No quick fix appears to be at hand for reviving the horse racing industry, and bets placed on races declined by more than half last year compared with 2003. Electronic games at the tracks have injected about $1 billion each year into the market since their introduction.
Concordia University student Brandon Stevenson won $1 million on a Powerball ticket this week that he bought with free credits through a lottery app run by Jackpocket. The app allows users to purchase Minnesota Lottery tickets through company employees who buy physical tickets for them at retail stores.
